When Inclement Weather Arrives

Storm Damage: The Street Department is responsible for clearing the streets after storms. Branches from trees blown down into the streets by wind are picked up and trees that are blown over onto the streets are cut up and removed.

Snow and Ice Removal: Snow and ice removal consists of applying a melting agent to the streets during and after a snowstorm. Should it be necessary, snow will be windrowed to the center of the street and removed. Emergency services and main streets have the highest priority in snow and ice removal.

Watches and Warnings are sent to radio and television stations by the National Weather Service office in Wichita:
