Pedestrian Traffic Accident Reported
On January 13, 2023, at about 7:30 a.m., Arkansas City Police and EMS were called to the intersection of Kansas Avenue and Summit Street regarding a pedestrian traffic accident.
Officers made contact with a 14-year-old Arkansas City resident who was crossing Summit Street eastbound in the crosswalk on the south side of the intersection. A motorist had turned southbound onto Summit Street from the 100 block of West Kansas Avenue and struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk.
The pedestrian suffered minor injuries and was released from the scene to a guardian after being assessed by EMS.
The driver of the vehicle, Stephen Post of Arkansas City, was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk.
