It is the policy of the City of Arkansas City that unless prohibited by law, all public records shall be open for inspection by any citizen.
Check with the Records Department to determine whether the information that you need is available.
The front page of the Kansas Standard Offense Report is a matter of Open Public Record. The Records Department can provide you with the front page which lists victim information and the listed charges.
If more than the Kansas Standard Offense Report is requested, you will be asked to complete a Kansas Open Records Act form which can be located in the lobby at the Arkansas City Police Department or in the document below listed Open Records Request Form. This form will then be sent to the City’s Attorney for review. Contact will be made with the requesting party within three business days from the time the request is received. If the request is denied, you will receive a written explanation for the delay or denial.
If you have any questions about your request, please call 620-441-6601.
You will need to come into the Police Department and speak with the Records Department about wanting to review your record history.
You will need to have a valid ID (Driver’s License, ID, Passport, etc.) with you.
The Records Department will then complete the Individual Criminal History request form.
You will then receive a copy of your record history with the Arkansas City Police Department which would contain the date of the offenses, initial charges, citations, etc.
However, juvenile information will be redacted. You would need to fill out the Kansas Open Records Act form available in the lobby of the Arkansas City Police Department, or online here which would then be forwarded to the City’s Attorney.
For formal charges and dispositions on the charges, you will need to contact Municipal or District Court.
You will then review the information given to you to make sure that the record is satisfactory.
