Benefits

• Officers work 12-hour shifts, with every other weekend off. This results in 78 more days off per year than 8-hour shifts
   
• While ACPD does not require a physical fitness test, an in-house physical fitness instructor can help individuals reach their fitness goals. The department seeks grant opportunities to improve its staff's health, fitness, and well-being. Physical fitness, nutrition, and mental health wellness are the basis of the department's approach to healthy and prolonged service to the community.
   
• The department provides uniforms and equipment. Training expenses, including room and board, are covered by the department.
   
• ACPD utilizes well-maintained fleet vehicles. New patrol vehicles are provided every two to three years.
   
• Benefits include retirement through KP&F (the Kansas Police and Fire retirement system), a paid health plan; paid sick leave, vacation days and holidays, paid training, and extra security duty when available.
