ACPD Seeks Suspect
On April 21, 2023, at 8:20 a.m., Arkansas City police officers were dispatched to Dollar General at 401 W. Madison Avenue, Arkansas City, for a shoplifting report.
An officer arrived and located a male suspect, who was identified as Michael Anthony Byrd, age 24, of Arkansas City. Once confronted, Byrd attempted to flee, and a physical altercation with the officer ensued. Byrd was able to get away and has yet to be located. The officer involved in the altercation received minor injuries.
Michael Byrd has two active warrants through Cowley County District Court for a probation violation and a bond violation with additional charges for today's incident.
The public is asked not to approach this subject but to call 911 or the Arkansas City Police Department at 620-441-4547 if they have information about his whereabouts.
