ACPD Officers Make Arrest

On January 7, 2023, at 8:58 p.m., officers from the Arkansas City Police Department were dispatched to Double Eagle Pawn Shop, 104 S. Summit St. in Arkansas City. It was reported that someone had forced entry into the pawn shop.

Officers arrived and discovered that someone had damaged the front glass door to the shop and entered the building. The suspect left the store before officers were dispatched to the area, and it was believed the suspect did not take any items from the store.

Officers reviewed the security video at the shop, and a description of the suspect was obtained. A short time later, around 10:03 p.m., officers located a person walking near 5th Avenue and Summit Street that fit the suspect's description. The person was identified as Aaron Austin Brew, age 28, of Arkansas City.

After identifying the subject, he was taken into custody and questioned about the incident. He was subsequently arrested and charged with the offenses of Criminal Damage to Property and Criminal Trespass. After being arrested, Brew was also found to be in possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. He is currently held at the Cowley County Jail with a $4,750 bond.
