ACPD Organizing National Night Out

The Arkansas City Police Department is organizing the 40th annual National Night Out, a nationwide program focused on preventing crime, drug use, and violence, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. This year's local event will begin with a community gathering on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wilson Park in Arkansas City.

In addition to the kickoff party, ACPD encourages residents to host neighborhood block parties on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024, as part of the ongoing commitment to building safer and more connected neighborhoods. Residents can email acpd@arkansascityks.gov or call 620-441-6601 to register their block party.

"National Night Out, a family-friendly event that will feature activities, food, and opportunities to meet your local law enforcement officers, is a powerful reminder that our community’s strength lies in the partnership between our citizens and law enforcement. By coming together, we send a strong message that crime, drugs, and violence have no place in Arkansas City," Arkansas City Police Chief Jim Holloway said.

During the Sept. 17 City Commission meeting, a proclamation was signed by Mayor Jay Warren declaring Oct. 1, 2024, as National Night Out in Arkansas City.
