ACPD Quickly Solve Burglary, Arrrest Suspect

In less than two hours, the Arkansas City Police Department successfully identified and arrested a suspect in connection with a burglary at a local restaurant.

At approximately 10:47 a.m. on April 3, 2025, officers responded to a reported break-in at Ninja Sushi Steakhouse, 1618 N. Summit St. Upon arrival, officers determined that entry had been made after business hours. Working closely with store management, investigators gathered evidence and identified the suspect.

Cassandra Simmons, 40, of Arkansas City, was taken into custody and later admitted to the burglary and theft. During her arrest, she was also found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Simmons was booked into the Cowley County Jail on charges of burglary, theft, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is currently being held on an $8,500 bond.
