Herrick sworn in as new officer to ACPD

Shannese Herrick was introduced and sworn in as a new police officer during the March 21 City Commission Meeting.

Herrick began employment with the Arkansas City Police Department on March 6. Before coming to ACPD, Herrick was employed as a full-time police officer in Newkirk. She completed 561 hours of training in 2020 when she completed The Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training in Oklahoma. She has maintained continuing education hours since her graduation.

During her interview process, Officer Herrick was asked to describe the characteristics of a good police officer.

"Shannese said that good police officers have integrity and are honest. She added that she believes in community policing and being an excellent public servant," Police Chief Eric Burr said. "We are excited to welcome officer Herrick into our family at the Ark City Police Department."
