On February 1, 2024, Arkansas City Police Officers responded to a report regarding an unauthorized individual at a residence in the 200 block of E. Taylor Ave. at 3:35 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the reporting party, who informed them that James Allyn Clark Jr., 43, Wichita, was inside her residence despite not being permitted.
The reporting party told the officers that Clark was in possession of a firearm and engaging in unlawful activities inside her residence. The resident granted officers permission to search the premises.
During the search, officers discovered a loaded handgun with live ammunition, a significant amount of crystallized substance suspected to be methamphetamine, and a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana, all of which were found on property belonging to Clark.
When officers attempted to apprehend him, Clark resisted arrest and engaged in a physical altercation. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by anyone involved in the altercation.
Clark was taken into custody and transported to the Cowley County Jail on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass, and no drug tax stamp,
Clark's bond was set at $22,750.
