It is the policy of the City of Arkansas City that unless prohibited by law, all public records shall be open for inspection by any citizen.
Check with the Records Department to determine whether the information that you need is available. Please remember to be courteous and specific when requesting information so the Records Department will be able to serve you better.
The front page of the Kansas Standard Offense Report is a matter of Open Public Record. The Records Department can provide you with the front page which lists victim and information and the listed charges.
If more than the Kansas Standard Offense Report is requested, you will be asked to complete a Kansas Open Records Act form which can be located in the lobby at the Arkansas City Police Department or click here. This form will then be sent to the City Attorney for review. Contact with be made with the requesting party within three business days from the time the request is received. If the request is denied, you will receive a written explanation for the delay or denial.

You will need to come into the Police Department and speak with the Records Department about wanting to review your record history.
You will need to have a valid ID (Driver’s License, Military ID, etc.) with you.
The Records Department will then complete the necessary paperwork (which can be found online here or in the lobby at the Arkansas City Police Department).
You will then receive a copy of your record history with the Arkansas City Police Department which would contain the date of the offenses, initial charges, citations, etc.
However, juvenile information will be redacted. You would need to fill out the Kansas Open Records Act form available at the lobby in the Arkansas City Police Department, or online here which would then be forwarded to the City Attorney.
For formal charges and dispositions on the charges, you will need to contact the Municipal or District Court.
You will then review the information given to you to make sure that the record is satisfactory.
If you find that the record is unsatisfactory, you may challenge the entry on your record. If you wish to do this please inform the Records Department and they can get you the necessary paperwork.
If you find that the record is satisfactory, you will then sign and date the form in the necessary places.
The Records Department can assist you with answers to any questions that you might have in regards to your record.
